Abano ears

The ear consists of 3 layers of tissue: skin, cartilage and muscle.

The overlying skin is thin and has a cartilaginous structure at the base of the skull bone in his upper back and clamped by the atrial muscles, which give a very subtle movement as ears.

The ears open, also known as Abano, are congenital, meaning that the person is born with this defect and is characterized by an abnormality in their shape. It is perceptible from birth and is accented at 5 years of age, when the ear with his desenvolmiento maximum age from that surgery is well signposted.

We have 3 types of alterations in the ears:
- Lack of bending of the cartilage.
- Lack of adherence of cartilage to bone.
- Association of the two.

History
The Vatican Museum is a statue of Caesar Augustus, emperor of the Roman Empire. You may notice that your left ear is wide open, a feature that marked the Caesar dynasty.

The first surgeon to describe corrective ear surgery was Dieffenbach in 1845. Mustard, Comverse, Skoog and Juarez are big names in the ear surgery.

Recent work proposed to modeling open ear at birth. This modeling is done with cotton and tape. The improvement of the curves is to achieve the normalization of the opening of the ear.

Surgery
- There are several techniques for the same purpose.
- Make open the bending of the cartilage
- Align the base of the skull bone cartilage
- Remove excess skin.

Postoperative
The patient leaves the operating room with a head wrapped healing. It's a slightly compressive fajamiento. This healing must be maintained for 5 days and will be replaced by another.

The ears will be swollen and reddish, it is normal that they are enlarged. At night, the patient should use semicompresivo headband to prevent accidental opening of the ears, for 3 months.
The ears are completely deflated from the first 3 months, the end result will be obtained in 1 year.
